Being a mom...

As a mother we want so much for our children. This song can be interpreted in many different ways. For me, as a mother, it speaks so clearly the feelings I have for my girls.

I'm Gonna Miss This

I'm staring at a mountain of laundry and a floor scattered with Legos. I'm looking at four girls' bedrooms in desperate need of an overhaul and a messy kitchen with its endless stack of dirty dishes because of the four little people that are now home with me all day. I'm listening to the endless sound of siblings arguing & laughing and every TV blaring, set to Nickelodeon and wondering if I'll survive the summer; always feeling two steps behind. And then, as if a sign, this song comes on the radio:

Tickling the Ivories

There's a lot of this that goes on around here. Even little Mia gets in on the action. Recently, everyone got to show off their skills at the spring piano recital. We are so lucky that Nana has taken us under her very talented, musical wings and is teaching us {with great patience I might add} how to "tickle the ivories".

This song is 'singing' to me...

When we go through trials in our life we look to many different outlets to get ourselves through the difficult time. In addition to talking with people and reading helpful and/or inspirational material; sometimes we listen: to the advice of a friend or family member or perhaps the words of a beautifully written song. A song that is so stunningly appropriate for this time in our lives-it speaks volumes to me. Enjoy!

I heard this song for the first time in a long while today. Every time I do, I think of my girls - how much I love them, how much I want for them.

A Star is Born!

Last week Hannah found out she got one of the lead roles in her upcoming choir Christmas musical. She is so excited! She got the part of 'Betty' a school janitor and "the best part," according to Hannah, is that she gets to faint at the end!

A brief overview of the musical:
It's the last day of school before winter vacation officially starts. Excitement fills the air with plans of tropical vacations, shopping at the mall, visits from relatives, NO homework for a while, favorite holiday meals and lots of presents! Everything is just right, including the beginning of a beautiful snowfall. SNOW!! Oh no! The snow keeps coming and vacation appears to be heading for disaster. Everyone may have to spend the holidays at school! Dinner cooked in the Science Lab? Shopping on the web? A musical perfect for all ages!

Sophie's Old Guitar

This old guitar taught me how to sing a love song

It taught me how to laugh and how to cry

Sophie started guitar lessons this week! She is super excited as she has wanted to begin for some time now. She is strumming the strings of the very guitar that Justin first learned to play many years ago which she thinks is "very cool". She is keeping with her piano lessons too which has proven to be an asset as she jumped several books right away because she already knows how to read music.

Her teacher's name is Kayleigh and although she is younger, she owns eleven {yes 11} guitars and also plays piano, clarinet, flute, bass & violin!

With all the musicality going on in this house the Osmonds better watch out! Oh wait, I'd have to have like 5 more kids....on second thought never mind!
