Sophie's Poem

The assignment: to write a 4-line poem in which the first and third and second and fourth lines rhyme, respectively. LOVE what she came up with!

WYOMING
Horses that run wild and free,
under an endless pink sunset.
With coal on a train for a fee,
and cowboys riding broncos without a fret.

Halloween Treats

This year for girls' class treats, I found this adorable idea from Shindig Parties To Go. You can link to her blog HERE. I used chocolate chips instead of pre-painting the eyes and noses which was much easier yet didn't leave me with as clean of lines as if I had painted them and, because I had to make so many and they have to be delivered to various schools, I left mine sans sticks and they still turned out pretty cute!

You can call her Mrs. President

Hannah's class recently held student council elections. Below is the speech she gave and a picture of one of her campaign posters. The speech, written entirely by her, was quite cute {I mean, who doesn't love crazy hair day & wacky glasses day?} and, more importantly, she won!

Hi, my name is Hannah Spicer and I want to be your class president. I’ll think of fun ideas for fundraisers and superb ideas for school days. For example, crazy hair day, wacky glasses day, inside out day, you get the point.

Here are some reasons why you should vote for me: I am organized, I get good grades, I will try not to miss any meetings and can bring spectacular ideas to Pilot Butte.

School is not always the way you want to spend your time but I will try to make it a little bit more enjoyable. I will give you a voice and let you all be student council members by listening to your ideas or suggestions

If you don’t want to share any of your ideas out loud, come to me. I can also solve any problems you might have. I will stand up and or defend you in any situation. I am the person you can count on in a crunch. And that’s why you should vote for me as your class president.

Rite of Passage

It's that special time of year...
SCHOOL PICTURE TIME!
We allowed the girls to choose their own backgrounds this year
and that really says it all {especially the rainbow background}.

They're pretty cute - ENJOY!

Night at the Museum - Betsy Ross

Bella's second grade class recently performed a little play entitled "A Night at the Museum." Each student picked a historical figure, researched him/her, wrote a short biography and then memorized their writing. For the play, they dressed up in character and recited what they had learned.

How cute is our little Betsy Ross!?!

We recently got the following letter in the mail:

Needless to say, we are very proud of our girl!

Budding Artists?

I know it seems as though we are always bragging about our girls - we can't help it! We think they are great and they keep wowing us! We just found out that all three {Sophie, Hannah, Bella} had an art piece selected by their art teacher to be displayed down at the local Community Fine Arts Center. We will post a continuation to this post once we all go down and see their art!

I made it into Quest!

Feb. 8, 2010

Dear whoever is reading this,
There is a program at our school called Quest. You have to take a BIG LONG two hour test to get in. I took the test before Christmas and I passed the first part. The second part was a 10 page questionnaire. I had to fill it out and send it in. They got to pick who gets in. The people who got in are my friends Shane, Parker, and of course me. We get to go on Mondays and we will start going to Quest on February 22nd. We will take a bus and go to a different school for the day. We will get to do fun activities and learn about all sorts of neat things. I can't wait! I am so excited and grateful that I was one of the people that was chosen to get in!

One Smart Cookie

Lately I have been doing really great at school! Here is all my great stuff. I am tutoring Spanish girls in reading. Their names are Janeth and Alin. I also get to do flash cards with them. My next big news is that I was chosen to have pizza with Ms. Searle the principal. I got picked because I have been doing good things like listening and helping and being quiet in line. It was so much fun!!! And my picture got to be in the paper because of it. And that is all of my big news for now.
